HR’s Simon Roberts CIK Stars Round 1 Results.

Unlucky Break for Roberts in Round 1 of the CIK Stars of Karting Series

A broken chain has come between Simon Roberts and solid result from 1st round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series. After starting out of position five for final2, Roberts was up into 2nd position by lap 3 chasing down the leader. This all came to an end when Roberts’ chain broke on Lap 5.

“It was very disappointing to end Final 2 that way. We made some changes for Final 2 which had seemed to work as I had been struggling with a lack of rear grip all weekend. Coming out of 5th on the grid, the High Roller Energy CRG was on its way towards the front, then the chain let go.” Roberts said.

Before Final 2, Roberts had been consistently running in the top 5 most of the weekend. He qualified 6th, just missing out on the Top 5 Shootout by only 0.05 of a second. Roberts then had 5th, 7th and a 4th in his three heats respectively.

Throughout the heats, Roberts was struggling for rear end grip. So even though he didn’t have the pace to win, consistent results were important to get a good starting position for Final 1. The results from the heats put him off grid 3 for Final 1. Whilst he was running 3rd for most of the final, the rear of the kart started to slid around again, which caused him to drop back to 5th in the last couple of laps of the 25 lap Final 1.

Big changes were made for Final 2 and were definitely a step in the right direction, going from 5th to 2nd in three laps before the chain let go.

Roberts is next heading to Ipswich, Queensland for Round 2 of the Stars of Karting Series on the 5-7 of May.

-Unlucky 1st round for Simon but these things happen and hopefully round 2 and the rest of the series hold better fortunes for him. Great effort all round on the weekend from Simon, hopefully a bit smoother drive next time. We will keep you posted.

THE HELMET WAREHOUSE AND HIGH ROLLER ENERGY GET BEHIND NSW MX

For Immediate Release: 17/03/2010

Motorcycling NSW is proud to announce that the naming rights sponsor for the 2010 NSW Motocross Championships will be existing series sponsor, The Helmet Warehouse, accompanied by a new series presenting sponsor, High Roller Energy.

With just over two weeks until the start of NSW’s premier MX series in Woollongong, The 2010 NSW MX Championships is set to be one of the biggest on record, and with the help of both The Helmet Warehouse and High Roller Energy, the atmosphere at this year’s event will be fun for all.

The Helmet Warehouse, dubbed as ‘Australia’s number one helmet and accessory discounter’, is a leading supplier of Helmets, gear and accessories to Australian riders. Boasting the largest range of Shoei and AGV helmets in Australia, The Helmet Warehouse also offer a fully licenced workshop facility. THW has supported the NSW MX Championships for the past two years and with the series going from strength to strength, THW Director, Sinisha Gavranov is excited about helping direct the sport of motocross in 2010.

We’ve been involved with the NSW Motocross Championships for two years now and have really seen the series grow substantially. So, when the opportunity arose to get behind the championship on this level, we saw it as a prime chance to help further grassroots motocross and nurture up-and-coming talents – as well as promote and enjoy the talents of some of the countries premier senior riders.”

We hope that our investment and input can continue to raise the profile of the sport locally, as well as to the everyday family whom otherwise might be aware of the fun and exciting that exists in all forms of motorcycle sport – especially motocross. We are really excited to be a part of the series and can’t wait for things to get underway in April,” he added.

Joining The Helmet Warehouse to promote this year’s series is Australian owned and rapidly expanding energy drink company, High Roller Energy.
Based locally on the Central Coast, High Roller Energy burst onto the scene two-years-ago and withstood the onslaught of many other come-and-go energy drink companies to stand out above the pack, and continue to grow in today’s market.
High Roller’s slogan is; “This is how we roll”, so it’s fitting that company founder and director, Daniel McKenzie, has been involved in the motocross industry for most of his life and is a keen rider himself, making his contribution to the series – a valuable one.

Everyone at High Roller HQ race at either a Club or National level. We have been involved with the sport for over 21-years and it’s the motorcycle industry that has helped us grow as a company – So, in turn, High Roller would like to support the people that support us,” said McKenzie.

We are really pleased to be involved with the 2010 NSW MX Championship, seeing the growth of the series over the past couple of years, and hopefully, together we can see it grow even further,” he added.

Both companies will have a large presence at every round of the year’s championship, including The Helmet Warehouse being on deck to supply rider needs and accessories, whilst High Roller Energy will have samples, girls and more for everyone to checkout.

Motorcycling NSW is extremely pleased to have both companies on board for 2010 and believes that the valued input and help from both companies respectively will be a great asset to the series – and motocross in general.

The 2010 The Helmet Warehouse NSW Motocross Championships, powered by High Roller kicks-off in Woollongong for round one on April 3 – 5. Before stopping at Port Macquarie for round two on June 12 – 14. Lakes will play host the series finale on July 9-11.

HR’s Coastal KTM Offroad Team Port Mac Results

Coastal KTM Pacific Ink Offroad Team shows solid form at Port Mac

The Coastal KTM Pacific Ink Offroad Team had an awesome start to the season in Port Macquarie where the first rounds of the Australian off Road Championship were held.

The team was greeted with wet and muddy conditions for the event which made for a challenging three hour Cross Country round on Saturday.

Jason Davis in his first race on the KTM450EXC led the pack out of the gate and showed his skill in the mud to hang on for 3rd position in the premier E2 class, and 6th overall. Scott Keegan riding the KTM530EXC had a solid start but had problems with his hydration system which seriously affected his race, due to becoming dehydrated early on. Despite this setback he still managed to finish 7th in the E3 class and 15th overall.

Heavy rain overnight made Sunday’s sprint format equally as challenging. Davis’s performance was once again outstanding and earned him 3rd place in the E2 class and 7th overall. Keegan put in a solid effort to improve on Saturday’s results placing 4th in the E3 class and 14th overall.

Jason Davis: “I felt quite confident in the wet conditions as it is a lot like this in New Zealand. I am happy with third in the E2 class and with this being my first race on the 450 machine I know I will only get faster. I’d like to thank the team at Coastal KTM and all of our sponsors again for their help.”

Scott Keegan: “I am pretty happy with how I went, although it was a little

disappointing to have that setback on Saturday. On Sunday I felt quite good by the afternoon. Coastal KTM are giving us great support. With the event being so muddy it makes for a lot of work for everyone.”

Damian Smith: “I am stoked with how the guys performed. Unfortunately I injured myself a week before the event and was unable to attend or compete in this event. It was extremely disappointing especially considering how the     guys performed so well, our pre season preparation has obviously paid off and I can’t wait to get back out there. I would like to thank team owners Phil and Deb for preparing the bikes and taking care of the logistics this week, and getting the team to the race in my absence.”

Phil Bond: “The 1st round was challenging for the Boys, but they both performed really well. The muddy, rutty conditions definitely suited Jason with the track being a lot like his home Country.

The Team has worked hard in the lead up to the series with a lot of testing and training and the results show it’s paying off.

It was a disappointment that Damian injured himself a week before the first round as he was pumped for a big year”.

“We will be testing and working hard in the weeks leading up to the A4DE to find some extra speed for the boys. Hopefully Damo will be ready for the 4 day and we can run with a full team”.

The next event for the Pacific Ink Motorex Coastal KTM Enduro Team will be the Australian 4 Day Enduro which will be held in Portland on the 8-11 of April next month

HR’s Coastal KTM Off Road Race Team 2010

March 11th, 2010 admin No comments

Coastal KTM Pacific Ink Offroad Team announces 2010 team line up.

Building on a solid 2009 season Coastal KTM has confirmed a three man team and a new partnership with Pacific Ink for 2010.

The team is anchored and managed by nine time ISDE gold medalist and four time Australian Champion Damian Smith and also boasts current New Zealand Champion Jason Davis and Central Coast local Scott Keegan. Pre season testing has shown promising form for all three riders.

Smith joined the team midway through 2009 and has gone from strength to strength aboard the 250SXF. He will continue to represent the KTM brand in the small bore E1 class for 2010. Davis has left his homeland to take on the Australian scene full time this year and will compete in the premier E2 class on his 450EXC. Keegan has switched it up this year and will take on the increasingly competitive E3 class with the 530EXC machine.

Coastal KTM has given me a great opportunity to represent their business with this team. We have some fantastic sponsors on board this year; Pacific Ink is as passionate about racing as we are and are a great addition to the team. We also have the support of Fox, Alpinestars, Scott, Barkbusters, Motorex, Pirelli, High Roller Energy Drink and Hogans Heavy Haulage.

“Pre season testing has gone really well and we have been training on and off the bike as a team which has allowed us to hone in on any challenges. Team boss and owner of Coastal KTM Phil Bond has been working very closely with all three of us to get our bikes suited to our individual styles. His enthusiasm and technical ability has put us in a great position heading into the season.”

Jason Davis: “I really appreciate the opportunity I’ve been given by Coastal KTM and am stoked to be on a professional team for 2010. It should be a good year.”

Scott Keegan: “I’ve spent the pre season training hard on and off the bike and am confident of a good season. Training with Damo and Jase has been full on and with Phil driving the technical side of things I can’t see how we could go wrong this year.

Phil Bond: “This year Coastal KTM is 100% committed to the 4 day and the AORC, assembling a strong 3 rider team with the talent and ability to win championships.  With Damian Smith as team manager, his wealth of knowledge and experience will help guide the team and the riders to achieve this goal.  With the support of our long term sponsors and the help of our new one’s (Fox, Hogans Heavy Haulage and Pirelli) we will be all working together to make this happen”.

The team will contest the six round Australian Off Road Championship commencing mid March and the Australian Four Day Enduro to be held in Portland NSW in April.
