TEAM PUERTO RICO HEADS DOWNUNDER

The Worlds Fastest Mazda 13B powered car is on it’s way to the 20th Annual Jamboree from Puerto Rico. The Sporty Motorsports team of Gaby Skern & Eddie Colon have just finished loading the World Record Holding Mazda RX7 into the container bound for J20 at Willowbank Raceway in Australia.

Sporty (as the RX7 is known) has clocked the beams at an amazing 6.900 @ 198.4 mph (319.3kph) The team are very excited about being able to unleash the RX7 on Willowbank’s legendary track, with the goal of cracking the magical 200mph barrier and dropping into the 6.8sec zone on Australian soil.

Also making their way to Australia is the Pica Motors El Yankee RX8 team. The El Yankee was purchased by Jon Blanch of Microtechefi.com in Australia late last year.

When it hits the track for the 1st time in Australia the original driver Jorge ‘Chivirico “Rivera will be at the controls. Jorge Lazcano will be attending looking to adjust the machine and enter the low 7sec zone again. Blanch is a regular in Puerto Rico and has been heavily involved in the development of the Sporty Motorsports RX7. That involvement will see a similar engine combination fitted to El Yankee for the 2010 Jamboree. El Yankee is no slouch either and has run a string of low 7sec passes with a best of 7.14 @ 191mph (307.4kph) With the new engine combination the El Yankee team will be on the chase to take Sporty’s crown.

Both cars will compete in the Turbosmart Pro Compact class come August 21/22 and you can bet the Aussie Turbosmart Pro Competitors of Rodrigues, Rehayem, Willshire, Nabhan, Magliveras and others will be out flying the Aussie flag high. Special thanks goes out to Microtechefi.com & Xtreme Rotories for helping make this trip possible. When the Puerto Ricans last toured in 2006 it was one of the biggest Jamboree’s ever and J20 is shaping up to be the same. Checkout Sporty in action below.!!!

HR’s MX NSW countdown to finale begins.

July 7th, 2010 admin No comments

COUNTDOWN TO NSW MX FINALE BEGINS

Months of hard work, blood, sweat and tears will come to an action-packed conclusion in just over a week’s time for competitors and organizers alike, as Lake Macquarie MBC hosts the 2010 The Helmet Warehouse NSW MX Finale on July 9-11 – in what will no doubt be one of the biggest events of the NSW motorcycling calender.

Round three of the series is shaping-up as a record breaking event, with tons of riders pouring in from across the country for what is to be one of the last open events before the track hosts the 2010 Australian Junior Motocross Championships in September.

Whilst entries have already closed, there are still sports available for those interested in submitting a late entry. All classes, with the exception of the 9-U12 Years 65cc and the 13-U15 Years 100-150cc Classes, have spots left on the grid for the epic showdown at Lakes. So if you didn’t get your entry in on time, but still wish to enter, there’s still time to get it in and be a part of weekend full of action, fun and excitement.

Many of the classes across junior and senior have battles on the boil that will go right down to the wire at Lakes and won’t be won until the final race of the 2010 Championship. This, coinciding with the atmosphere, gives spectators even more reason to make their way to the Lake Macquarie track for the three-days of action – all for just a gold coin donation.

To be a part of the action, Lake Macquarie Motorcycle Club is located on Cessnock Rd, Ryhope – just off the F3 Freeway, Toronto exit.

Round three at Lakes will also double as an official Cancer Council Call To Arms event, in which riders will be asked to wear a supplied yellow armband during racing, to raise awareness of men’s cancer across Australia.
Motorcycling NSW is a proud to support the Cancer Council and Call To Arms in 2010.

Bopping extends championship lead in Port Macquarie

Motul Rockstar Suzuki’s Lawson Bopping has once again proven he is the man to beat, clean-sweeping the Pro Open class at round two of the 2010 The Helmet Warehouse NSW Motocross Championships, extending his series lead.

Much in the same fashion as round one in Wollongong, riders prepared for the worst on Monday morning, as the heavens opened and drenched the Hastings Valley track the night before. However, it wasn’t long before the sun was out, the track dried up and racing hit full swing.

As with the previous two-days of junior competition, the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club yet again turned on a great weekend and made such a big weekend of racing look smooth and easy. The big crowd on hand were well looked after with the clubs facilities, whilst being treated to a day of racing they’ll probably not forget in a hurry.

Reigning MX Nationals Pro Open Champion, Jay Marmont looked strong in practice on his CDR Rockstar Yamaha, but when race one rolled around, it was Suzuki rider Keiron Hall who got the jump, but he was soon rounded up by Bopping and Marmont. Hall sat back by race end to take a comfortable third place, as Bopping and Marmont checked out. However, when the flag fell it was bopping in 1st place with Marmont looking for an answer in race two.

Race two and it was all Bopping from the outset, running away early. Marmont had a slip-up and dropped down the order, but spent all of his remaining laps chasing down the Motul Rockstar Suzuki rider. It came down to a hard fought battle on the last lap, but Bopping held off the Australia Champ to take the round. Privateer Tom Leach proved that consistency and hard work pays off, running up-front during both races and ended the round in third overal

Bopping was finished there though. In Port Macquarie Bopping again rode the Pro Lites class as well, but this time, he had more than one big name breathing down his throat.
Race one saw a battle between Kawasaki rider Luke George, Yamaha’s Luke Styke, JDR Motorex KTM’s Ryan Marmont and Bopping. Series leader Michael Addison had plenty of speed, setting the fastest lap times during practice and both races. However, the Team Axis Motorsports rider  found himself down the order from the start and had to work his way through the pack, en-route to fifth place.

The battle of the front-four was electric and had the big crowd on their feet. Banging ‘bars and swapping positions, the battle for the win went down to the last lap, when then leader Luke George cross-rutted and opened a small door – a door that Styke lined and shot through to take race one.
Race two saw Styke out front once again and found himself on the receiving end of a big chase, this time by Pro Open Series leader, Bopping. The pair ran away from the field and battled to the death, with Styke proving to strong in his first appearance of the 2010 series. Bopping finished second with Addison recovering to grab a third.
Overall, Styke took home the win, followed by Bopping in second. Luke George rounded out the podium.

As always, MNSW would also like to thank all of our series partners and sponsors, The Helmet Warehouse, High Roller Energy, Compex Australia, Pro Alloy Trailers, DJO Motorsports Australia and Cycletorque Magazine for their continued support.

Round Three of the 2010 The Helmet Warehouse NSW Motocross Championships, powered by High Roller Energy will take place at Lake Macquarie on July 11 and will play host as an Official Cancer Council Call To Arms event - raising awareness for mens cancer across Australia.

HR’s MX NSW Titles Rnd 2 Port Mac this weekend.

PORT MACQUARIE SET FOR ROUND TWO OF NSW MX TITLES.

Final preparations are in full-swing as NSW’s premier Motocross series, the 2010 The Helmet Warehouse NSW Motocross Championships, presented by High Roller Energy rolls into Port Macquarie this long-weekend for round two of the growing series.
Included in the massive line-up will be some of the biggest names in the sport including, Jay and Ryan Marmont, Lawson Bopping, Cody Mackie, Luke Styke, MX/SX veteran Danny Ham, Luke George, off-road front-runner Josh Ballard and current Lites class leader, Michael Addison, all adding to the build up and the atmosphere, when Port Macquarie’s Hastings Valley circuit comes to life over the long weekend of June 12-14.

Following a bumper opening round in Wollongong in April, round two is shaping-up as one of the biggest rounds in NSW MX history – with entries again topping 550.

Despite the heavy rainfall that has blanketed most parts of the East Coast in recent weeks, the Hastings Valley club has worked incredibly hard and done a wonderful job to present a circuit that is in top-shape heading into the round.
Coinciding with the great track conditions, the weather looks set to help the process along with clear sky and sun predicted for the remainder of the week, leaving just the racing action to now take centre stage.

As always, spectator entry is just a gold coin donation and there will be plenty of food and drinks available across the weekend – so too official event merchandise, gear and accessories via series sponsor, The Helmet Warehouse, who will be on-site on Saturday and Sunday with big savings on 2010 Fox gear and apparel, as well as tear-offs and accessories. (EFTPOS available).

For any info about the Port Macquarie region, including accommodation, log onto www.portmacquarieinfo.com.au or for more details about the event, log onto www.motorcycling.com.au or call MNSW on (02) 9635 9177.

The Hastings Valley MCC is located on Cowarra Access Rd, just off the Pacific Hwy before the Port Macquarie turn-off (17km past Kew). Signs will be posted at the turn-off.

- If your in the Hastings Valley area for this long weekend and want to go see some action then head out to the MX NSW titles it’ll be a great day of racing. Watch the action on the track, meet the HIGH ROLLER girls and sample some HR while your there.
