VS
Australia verse New Zealand 2010
On the June long weekend Jacob Griffiths from Queensland competed at the BMXTreme event in Casino, northern NSW. Not only did Jacob compete; he was racing for Australia in the Junior Trans Tasman Test Team!
Jacob was selected in the five-man Australian team during April after submitting his BMX racing resume to the Australian selection panel. And it is easy to see why he was selected. Although only eleven years old, Jacob has already been:
The Junior Trans Tasman Test Team race is an exclusive event for eleven year olds. It has been running annually since 1990 and is unique given that BMX is an individual sport. The event is very prestigious and to give an indication of this, two of the three Australian male BMX Olympians from Beijing rode for Australia as eleven year olds. So Jacob has now joined a very elusive club.
Although defeated by the Kiwi’s in Casino, Jacob rode extremely well in the Australian team and represented his country with modesty, pride and courage. He’ll never forget representing his country which included a million and one photos and even a TV interview.
The event also carries a second leg which is due to take place on the 23rd and 24th of October in Rotorua, New Zealand. To qualify for this second leg, and thus a trip to New Zealand, Jacob had to compete in five qualifying races over two days. This he did so very successfully to finish as the first placed qualifier into the team ahead of the current Australian champion!! So Jacob will once again represent Australia in October.
Jacob is a proud member of the High Roller / DK race team and would like to thank High Roller for their coninued support.
- Congratulations to Jacob on gaining selection into the Aussie team as that itself is a HUGE achievement, just with Jacobs resume it would’ve been hard not to pick him.
Unfortunately Jacob’s and the rest of the Aussie teams effort just falling short, with the Kiwi’s taking out the honours for this leg.
Congratulations to Jacob for qualifying 1st for the 2nd leg, beating the current Australian Champion in qualifying for the battle across the ditch in New Zealand. Goodluck Jacob in the 2nd leg, you’ll do Australia, HR and most importantly yourself proud.

Coastal KTM wins its first Australian Championship
After 5 months of competing in the Australian Mx Nationals the MxRad Motorex Coastal KTM Team has come away with its 1st Australian Championship in the under 19’s class. The team arrived in sunny Coolum early Friday morning to set up for the big 2 day finale. The sun was shining the track looked to be in perfect condition, with some light drizzle on the way the final weekend of the Australian Mx championship looked to be the best one so far.
After a full weekend of racing with 1 race to spare Joshua Cachia clinched the 2010 under 19’s title. Josh has ridden solid all season and his effort and hard work has paid off. After loosing a lot of points at the previous round at Moree, Josh had a job to do. After qualifying fastest Josh set the pace and never looked back winning the title by 57 points over runner up rider Ross Beaton.
“It’s so good to be able to go out there and win for Bronte Holland and Andrew McFarlane, two people I was close too, who have passed away,” Cachia said.
“I’ve been working so hard this year; all the hours out at the track and it’s all paid off. I really need to thank everyone for all their help this year.
The team, my family, friends and sponsors have done an awesome job and I can’t thank them enough for it.
“I’m stepping up into the Pro Lites class for next year and can’t wait to see what I’m capable of doing.”
After competing in his 1st Australian motocross series Luke Bond has finished just outside the top 20. Luke rode hard to finish 5th in race 1 at Raymond terrace and to finish top 10 in other’s.
“This year was a good learning curve for me and I’m looking forward to next years nationals”. “I had some good results and some not so good but in the end I was happy with how I performed.
“Being my 1st year in the senior grade I didn’t really know what to expect but now I know”. “It’s good to have one year under my belt and now I know what I need to practice on to improve on my results for next years series”.
“I just like to thank my Dad, Team, Family, Friends and my Mechanic for all the hard work and effort they put into me this year so far”. “I’m looking forward to having a little break before I start training for SuperX”.
In the Pro Open class the boys showed us some of the best racing we have seen this year.
The stand out for the team on the weekend was the up and coming young gun Beau Ralston.
Beau showed perfect form all weekend finishing in 6th overall ahead of some of Australia’s top factory riders.
“I was feeling very confident coming into the final round here at Coolum. I had some impressive results here last year and wanted to expend on those for this year”.
“I got good starts in nearly every moto and was running as high as 3rd in one of them. Coolum was definitely a career highlight and I’m looking forward to it again next year. A big shout out to my Team, family and sponsors for all their support this year, its definately been great so far and I can’t wait for Supercross”.
The weekend for Coastal KTM’s rider Danny Anderson was a bit up and down.
After qualifying just outside the top 15 Danny looked set to be in for a good weekend.
After suffering from bad starts and a few crashes over the weekend, Danny still managed to finish in 19th position for the weekend and 21st overall for the series.
Danny commented on the day by saying:
“The weekend didn’t go to plan, but I still had fun riding my bike”. “Saturday the track was really good and got extremely rough by the last moto”. “Sunday was looking really good and didn’t get to practice till 1 so by then the track had big whoops and braking bumps in it but it was still better than Saturday”.
“The 4 x 15minute motos back to back were pretty intense”. “The 1st 2 moto’s I got a bad jump and slowly started picking riders off to come through the pack”. “In the 3rd moto I got taken out, and when that sort of stuff happens it’s hard to catch back up”. “All in all I had a good day; I’d like to thank everybody that helped me out”. “I was a bit disappointed with my results and hope to improve on them for SuperX”.
After a solid season Hart & Huntington Coastal KTM’s rider Daniel McCoy has come away with 8th overall in the highly competitive pro open class.
Since round 1 Daniel has been strong with numerous top 8 finishes at nearly every round. Daniel really stepped it up in Coolum after pulling a few holeshots and running in top 5 positions on the Saturday,
Daniel was set to be in for a good weekend. On the Sunday after finishing 8th in the 1st moto Daniel had to withdraw from the rest of the days race’s due to a mechanical issues.
“I have very mixed emotions at the moment”. “I rode extremely well on the Saturday and was pumped for Sunday but had a bit of bad luck with my bike”. “I really enjoyed the series this year except the weather ruined a few rounds”.
“I will be training hard from now up until the start for SuperX and plan to improve on my 5th position from last year”. “There is a lot more American talent coming out here this year and can’t wait to mix it with the worlds best”. “I’d like to thank everybody who supported me through this series. It has been an honor”.
The team would like to thank Coastal KTM, MxRad, Motorex, Thor, Tubby Graphic’s, High Roller Energy, Pirelli, KTM Australia, RHK, Talon, Alpinestars and Loose Kid Industries for all their help this year. We really stepped it up and it’s great to have the help and support of these sponsors because without them it wouldn’t be possible.
The team will be competing in the Australasian Super X series with the 1st round at Newcastle on the 16th of October.
Many thanks
P.Bond & the team at Coastal KTM
Race Team Manager.

Coastal KTM maintains points lead in States West
The MxRad Motorex Coastal KTM Team had an up and down day at Round 7 of the Mx Nationals which was held at Moree in the New South Wales States West over the weekend.
The team arrived early Saturday morning in the country town of Moree hoping to gain some ground, and that’s exactly what we intended to do. The Sunday turned out to be an excellent day with perfect weather conditions and an extremely well prepared track and that is when we knew we had a great day of racing ahead of us.
Championship leader Josh Cachia is still focused on winning. After qualifying 1st overall Josh looked to be in for another good day. After pulling the holeshot in moto 1 Josh looked to run away with the win, but soon dropped the bike in a corner crash, after remounting and restarting the bike Josh rode hard to finish a credible 4th in the 1st moto. After a 1st turn pile up in the 2nd moto Josh had to put his head down and work hard. Josh managed to make it back to 17th position and salvage a few points for his title hunt. In the final 2 moto’s Josh got to work and managed to get the holeshot in both races and never looked back winning both races by a convincingly big margin.
“I definitely am a bit disappointed on the 2nd moto today,” Cachia added.
“I have to hold my head up high and just keep staying consistent. Ross has gained a few points on me but if I just stay in front of him for the remainder of the series I should be fine. – If I stay consistent I can’t be beaten in the Championship”.
Josh still maintains an 11 point lead over Yamaha’s Ross Beaton and plans to extend the gap at the final rounds in Coolum next weekend.
Luke Bond had a good day. Luke struggled with starts but managed to work his way through the pack in every moto to gain a respectable finish in the short 6 lap races.
“Today was good. I had a lot of fun and the track was the best track I’ve ridden this year. It had some really good technical rhythm sections and good ruts were formed after the 1st moto. I enjoyed the format but wish it was a little bit longer as I only just really started to get going, when the moto finished. I’m going to give it my all at the next and final rounds and hopefully come away with some solid results. Id like to thank the team for putting in the effort and support so far in the series. It’s been great”.
In the Pro Open class the boys came away with some up and down results.
Danny Anderson came away with a 20th overall position for the day on his KTM450SXF.
Danny struggled with a few starts and was nearly last into the 1st corner, but Digs put his head down and rode hard to make it through to mid pack every race.
“I had bad starts in most races but never gave up”.
“I came from around 30th off the start and finished inside the top 20 each race”. “The track rutted up really good I really enjoyed riding the Moree track. The Club put on an excellent day. I got a flat tyre in the 2nd moto which was a bit of a bummer. I had a lot of fun and can’t wait for Coolum.” Digs concluded
Danny currently sits in 19th position in the Pro Open championship after improving 2 positions and hopes to move well into the top 15 in the final round.
Daniel McCoy didn’t start the weekend off how he would of liked after qualifying in 17th position. Daniel hard to work hard during the races and that’s exactly what he did.
After a DNF in the 1st moto after breaking his foot brake lever, Daniel went on to finish 6, 6, 6 in the final 3 motos to give him 8th overall for the day.
Daniel commented on the day by saying “Today was a good day. I got some good results and got pretty good starts. I was disappointed braking off my lever in the 1st race but I soldiered on to get well inside the top 10.
Daniel is currently sitting in 8th position overall in the championship.
“The final round should be good but I can’t wait for Supercross to start. Im really looking forward to riding the new KTM 350SXF it should be unreal”. Daniel concluded
Beau Ralston has been on fire in the past few weeks after winning the final round of the NSW State Titles. Beau qualified an impressive 12th position overall in the Pro Open class. After a shocking start in the 1st moto Beau made it back to 14th position, from there Beau’s day went downhill.
After a mechanical DNF in the 2nd moto due to a collision with another bike, Beau came out firing in moto 3.
But after a few laps came unstuck with another DNF. Due to the damage of the bikes Beau decided to call it a day and return home.
“I was pretty upset about today. I’ve been training really hard and felt unreal coming into this round. I got some good laps in qualifying but mechanical issues ended my day pretty quick. I’d like to thank the team, they did everything they could to help me on the day. I’m looking forward to the final round and hope to gain some lost ground.
Beau is sitting in 10th position and his goal is to get into 9th by the end of the series.
Overall the boys had a good day. They will be training hard for the final rounds of the Mx Nationals which will be held In Coolum, QLD on the 24th and 25th of July this weekend. The team would like to thank Coastal KTM, MxRad, Motorex, Thor, Tubby Graphic’s ,High Roller Energy, Pirelli, KTM Australia, RHK, Talon, Alpinestars and Loose Kid Industries because without their help it wouldn’t be possible.

Coastal KTM Has A Commendable Day At Round 6 Of The Mx Nationals
The MxRad Motorex Coastal KTM Team had a creditable day at round 6 of the Mx Nationals which was held at Wodonga over the weekend.
The team arrived In Wodonga on the Saturday with the rain clouds not far behind us. The track looked Muddy with the pits being just as bad and the temperature well below 10 degrees. The Club decided not to prep the track until early Sunday morning to make sure we had the best track to ride on. The Sunday turned out to be a sunny day and turned into perfect racing conditions.
Championship leader Josh Cachia is still focused on winning. After taking 1st overall in qualifying and the 1st moto win Josh looked to be in for another good day but suffered with bad starts for the rest of the moto’s.
“I definitely wanted to do better out there today,” Cachia said.
“I can’t hold my head too low today, Ross has still got a long way to go – I’ve still got a lot of points between us so if I stay this consistent I can’t be beaten in the Championship.
“I’m doing what I want to do which is winning – and second just doesn’t satisfy me anymore! It’s tough: I’ve come second and I feel like I’m not even in the top ten, so I won’t be satisfied unless I get that number one – so I’ll definitely come out fighting at the next round,” Cachia concluded.
Josh still maintains a 26 point lead over Yamaha’s Ross Beaton and plans to extend that gap at the next round in Moree
Luke Bond had a day he would rather forget. Luke struggled with starting on the slick concrete surface all day and that made it extremely difficult to come through the pack.
“I wasn’t too happy with my results today. The track was pretty one lined and hard to pass on. I struggled with getting off the line on the concrete starts and by the time I got going I was pretty far back.
I managed to go through a lot of riders but could only make it to mid pack and by than I had run out of time. The next round is at Moree and I really enjoy that track. Hopefully I will be able to get some good starts and show everybody how good I can go”.
In the Pro Open class the boys came away with a mixed bag of results.
Danny Anderson came away with a 17th overall position for the day on his KTM450SXF.
Danny like Luke struggled with the concrete starts all day and was nearly last into the 1st corner in every race, but Digs put his head down and rode hard to make it through to mid pack every race.
“I had bad starts in all 3 races but never gave up”.
“I came from around 30th off the start and finished inside the top 20 each race”. “I felt I rode good and kept pushing my limits but you can’t do much when you’re out the back off the start. All in all I had a good fun day” Digs concluded
Danny Currently sits in 21st position in the Pro Open championship and hopes to move well into the top 15 with the final 3 rounds remaining.
Daniel McCoy got the weekend off to a good start qualifying in 10th position but Daniel wasn’t happy with that.
Daniel went on to finish top 10 in every race giving him a 7th overall for the day.
Daniel commented on the day by saying “I had a lot of fun today. I got some good results and got pretty good starts. The last race was a bit of a bummer, one of my fork seals gave way and made it super soft but I rode it out and finished 10th. I ended up 7th overall but I know I can do better”.
Daniel is currently sitting in 8th position overall in the championship and is looking forward to getting a new 2011 KTM 350SXF for the next round.
Beau Ralston came into this round feeling very confident and hoping to gain some ground after a mechanical DNF in the final moto at Raymond Terrace just weeks beforehand.
Qualifying didn’t go exactly as he planned after struggling with freezing hands and feet from the cold Wodonga climate he ended up in 13th position overall.
“Today was a good day. I got some good starts and some good moto finishes.
In the 1st moto I was battling with my fellow team mate Daniel McCoy which was good fun but he held me out over the finish line. In the 2nd moto I just couldn’t get in the groove and ended up dropping a few places and finished 14th.
The last one I just rode my own race and gained some solid ground but faded on the last few laps putting me in 11th position. I got 12th overall for the day which was a bit disappointing but I will have it sorted for the next round in Moree and hope to be back inside the top 10 again”.
Beau is consistently showing he has the speed to run with the big boys and will be a big threat in the near future.
Overall the boys had a good day. They will be training hard for the next round which will be held at Moree, NSW on the 18th of July in 3 weeks time. The team would like to thank Coastal KTM, MxRad, Motorex, Thor, Tubby Graphic’s ,High Roller Energy, Pirelli, KTM, RHK, Talon, Alpinestars and Loose Kid Industries because without their help it wouldn’t be possible.
Many thanks

Coastal KTM Show Impressive Results At Home Track
The MxRad Motorex Coastal KTM Team had an Impressive day at Round 5 of the Mx Nationals which was held at Raymond Terrace over the weekend.
The team was greeted with an extremely muddy track after the heavy rain falls during the week in the Newcastle region, the team was in for a muddy and tough weekend. The Sunday turned out to be a sunny day and turned the mudfest track into almost perfect racing conditions.
Joshua Cachia showed good form in qualifying on his KTM250SXF taking out 2nd position on the challenging Terrace Circuit. Josh showed why he is running the red plate and used his skills on the day to get back onto the top spot of the podium after a hard weekend in Toowoomba only a fortnight beforehand.
“With the help of all the team and sponsors today was a really good day for me. The track was extremely rough and challenging but I rode hard and it paid off. I had some good battles with Hamish Dobbyn and Ross Beaton but in the end I came through the strongest and won. I’m really looking forward to the next round in Albury and hopefully get my Coastal KTM back on top”.
Josh Managed to extend his Championship points lead in the Under 19’s Class and has 33 point lead over closest rival Ross Beaton
Luke Bond had his best race of the season. Luke Qualifying in 12th position giving him a great gate pick for the day. In the 1st moto Luke got an excellent start and rode hard to finish in an incredible 6th place. Luke held out last round winner Luke Arbon the whole race and didn’t look back.
For the remainder of the day Luke got shocking starts but still managed to make his way through the pack slowly to finish 17th overall for the day.
Luke has the speed to run upfront and just needs to get a good start. Luke will be training hard during the next few weeks and will have it sorted for the next round in 3 weeks time. Luke would like to thank all his sponsors for their hard work and effort, without them it wouldn’t be possible
In the Pro Open class the boys came away with some very impressive results.
Danny Anderson came away with an excellent 9th position for the day on his KTM450SXF at the Raymond Terrace circuit.
Danny commented on the day saying “I was happy as soon as I saw the Blue sky’s and knew we had a good day of racing ahead of us. The track got extremely rough and I struggled hanging on down the hills but I really enjoyed it. I was happy finishing inside the top 10 and hopefully I can keep it going for the next round.”
Danny Currently sits in 18th overall in the Pro Open championship and hopes to improve with the few rounds remaining.
Daniel McCoy had a shocker of a weekend. After qualifying in 16th position and getting a bad gate pick Daniel knew he had to ride hard to get a good position.
Daniel was involved in a 1st turn pile up which put him near the rear of the field. McCoy remounted and rode his heart out to finish in 10th position. In the 2nd race Daniel crashed into fellow team mate Danny Anderson and went down.
He managed to climb his way back into another 10th position.
In the final moto Daniel got an awesome start and was in 5th position just behind fellow KTM rider Tye Simmonds. Tye made a mistake causing McCoy to run into him and crashed again. By the time Dan remounted he was in 25th position and had hurt his back in the accident. He decided to pull in and call it a day.
Dan is off to America for a few weeks and will be back stronger than ever for the next round in Albury where he hopes to land his 1st podium of the season.
Beau Ralston came into his home round on another very high note. After getting an excellent results in Canberra and Toowoomba Beau wanted to continue his success and that’s certainly what he did.
Beau qualified 7th overall in the pro open class only 2 seconds off the pace.
All day Beau got good starts and ran well inside the top 10 with a 9th in the first moto and a 7th in the second moto battling with his team mates all day.
In the final moto Beau was running in 6th position when he had to DNF after some mechanical issues. Beau was extremely disappointed but still managed to finish 10th overall on the day. Beau is consistently showing he has the speed to run with the big boys and will be a big threat in the near future.
Overall the boys had a good day. They will be training hard for the next round which will be held at Albury, Vic on the 27th of June in 3 weeks time. The team would like to thank Coastal KTM, MxRad, Motorex, Thor, High Roller Energy, Pirelli, KTM, Tubby Graphic’s, RHK, Talon, Alpinestars and Loose Kid Industries because without their help it wouldn’t be possible.
Many thanks
