TEAM PUERTO RICO HEADS DOWNUNDER

The Worlds Fastest Mazda 13B powered car is on it’s way to the 20th Annual Jamboree from Puerto Rico. The Sporty Motorsports team of Gaby Skern & Eddie Colon have just finished loading the World Record Holding Mazda RX7 into the container bound for J20 at Willowbank Raceway in Australia.

Sporty (as the RX7 is known) has clocked the beams at an amazing 6.900 @ 198.4 mph (319.3kph) The team are very excited about being able to unleash the RX7 on Willowbank’s legendary track, with the goal of cracking the magical 200mph barrier and dropping into the 6.8sec zone on Australian soil.

 Also making their way to Australia is the Pica Motors El Yankee RX8 team. The El Yankee was purchased by Jon Blanch of Microtechefi.com in Australia late last year.

When it hits the track for the 1st time in Australia the original driver Jorge ‘Chivirico “Rivera will be at the controls. Jorge Lazcano will be attending looking to adjust the machine and enter the low 7sec zone again. Blanch is a regular in Puerto Rico and has been heavily involved in the development of the Sporty Motorsports RX7. That involvement will see a similar engine combination fitted to El Yankee for the 2010 Jamboree. El Yankee is no slouch either and has run a string of low 7sec passes with a best of 7.14 @ 191mph (307.4kph) With the new engine combination the El Yankee team will be on the chase to take Sporty’s crown.

Both cars will compete in the Turbosmart Pro Compact class come August 21/22 and you can bet the Aussie Turbosmart Pro Competitors of Rodrigues, Rehayem, Willshire, Nabhan, Magliveras and others will be out flying the Aussie flag high. Australia verse New Zealand 2010

On the June long weekend Jacob Griffiths from Queensland competed at the BMXTreme event in Casino, northern NSW. Not only did Jacob compete; he was racing for Australia in the Junior Trans Tasman Test Team!

Jacob was selected in the five-man Australian team during April after submitting his BMX racing resume to the Australian selection panel. And it is easy to see why he was selected. Although only eleven years old, Jacob has already been:

• A UCI World Championship silver medallist (2009)  
• Two time Australian champion;
• Multiple Australian championship finalist; and
• Multiple state champion

The Junior Trans Tasman Test Team race is an exclusive event for eleven year olds. It has been running annually since 1990 and is unique given that BMX is an individual sport. The event is very prestigious and to give an indication of this, two of the three Australian male BMX Olympians from Beijing rode for Australia as eleven year olds. So Jacob has now joined a very elusive club.

Although defeated by the Kiwi’s in Casino, Jacob rode extremely well in the Australian team and represented his country with modesty, pride and courage. He’ll never forget representing his country which included a million and one photos and even a TV interview.   

The event also carries a second leg which is due to take place on the 23^rd and 24^th of October in Rotorua, New Zealand. To qualify for this second leg, and thus a trip to New Zealand, Jacob had to compete in five qualifying races over two days. This he did so very successfully to finish as the first placed qualifier into the team ahead of the current Australian champion!! So Jacob will once again represent Australia in October.     

Jacob is a proud member of the High Roller / DK race team and would like to thank High Roller for their coninued support.

- Congratulations to Jacob on gaining selection into the Aussie team as that itself is a HUGE achievement, just with Jacobs resume it would’ve been hard not to pick him.

Unfortunately Jacob’s and the rest of the Aussie teams effort just falling short, with the Kiwi’s taking out the honours for this leg. 

Congratulations to Jacob for qualifying 1st for the 2nd leg, beating the current Australian Champion in qualifying for the battle across the ditch in New Zealand. Goodluck Jacob in the 2nd leg, you’ll do Australia, HR and most importantly yourself proud.

Coastal KTM wins its first Australian Championship

After 5 months of competing in the Australian Mx Nationals the MxRad Motorex Coastal KTM Team has come away with its 1^st Australian Championship in the under 19’s class. The team arrived in sunny Coolum early Friday morning to set up for the big 2 day finale. The sun was shining the track looked to be in perfect condition, with some light drizzle on the way the final weekend of the Australian Mx championship looked to be the best one so far.

After a full weekend of racing with 1 race to spare Joshua Cachia clinched the 2010 under 19’s title. Josh has ridden solid all season and his effort and hard work has paid off. After loosing a lot of points at the previous round at Moree, Josh had a job to do. After qualifying fastest Josh set the pace and never looked back winning the title by 57 points over runner up rider Ross Beaton.

“It’s so good to be able to go out there and win for Bronte Holland and Andrew McFarlane, two people I was close too, who have passed away,” Cachia said.
“I’ve been working so hard this year; all the hours out at the track and it’s all paid off. I really need to thank everyone for all their help this year.

The team, my family, friends and sponsors have done an awesome job and I can’t thank them enough for it.
“I’m stepping up into the Pro Lites class for next year and can’t wait to see what I’m capable of doing.”

After competing in his 1^st Australian motocross series Luke Bond has finished just outside the top 20. Luke rode hard to finish 5^th in race 1 at Raymond terrace and to finish top 10 in other’s.

“This year was a good learning curve for me and I’m looking forward to next years nationals”. “I had some good results and some not so good but in the end I was happy with how I performed.

 “Being my 1^st year in the senior grade I didn’t really know what to expect but now I know”. “It’s good to have one year under my belt and now I know what I need to practice on to improve on my results for next years series”.

“I just like to thank my Dad, Team, Family, Friends and my Mechanic for all the hard work and effort they put into me this year so far”. “I’m looking forward to having a little break before I start training for SuperX”.

In the Pro Open class the boys showed us some of the best racing we have seen this year.

The stand out for the team on the weekend was the up and coming young gun Beau Ralston.

Beau showed perfect form all weekend finishing in 6^th overall ahead of some of Australia’s top factory riders.

“I was feeling very confident coming into the final round here at Coolum. I had some impressive results here last year and wanted to expend on those for this year”.

“I got good starts in nearly every moto and was running as high as 3^rd in one of them. Coolum was definitely a career highlight and I’m looking forward to it again next year. A big shout out to my Team, family and sponsors for all their support this year, its definately been great so far and I can’t wait for Supercross”.

The weekend for Coastal KTM’s rider Danny Anderson was a bit up and down.

After qualifying just outside the top 15 Danny looked set to be in for a good weekend.

After suffering from bad starts and a few crashes over the weekend, Danny still managed to finish in 19^th position for the weekend and 21^st overall for the series.

Danny commented on the day by saying:

“The weekend didn’t go to plan, but I still had fun riding my bike”. “Saturday the track was really good and got extremely rough by the last moto”. “Sunday was looking really good and didn’t get to practice till 1 so by then the track had big whoops and braking bumps in it but it was still better than Saturday”.

“The 4 x 15minute motos back to back were pretty intense”. “The 1^st 2 moto’s I got a bad jump and slowly started picking riders off to come through the pack”. “In the 3^rd moto I got taken out, and when that sort of stuff happens it’s hard to catch back up”. “All in all I had a good day; I’d like to thank everybody that helped me out”. “I was a bit disappointed with my results and hope to improve on them for SuperX”.

After a solid season Hart & Huntington Coastal KTM’s rider Daniel McCoy has come away with 8^th overall in the highly competitive pro open class.

Since round 1 Daniel has been strong with numerous top 8 finishes at nearly every round. Daniel really stepped it up in Coolum after pulling a few holeshots and running in top 5 positions on the Saturday,

Daniel was set to be in for a good weekend. On the Sunday after finishing 8^th in the 1^st moto Daniel had to withdraw from the rest of the days race’s due to a mechanical issues.

“I have very mixed emotions at the moment”. “I rode extremely well on the Saturday and was pumped for Sunday but had a bit of bad luck with my bike”. “I really enjoyed the series this year except the weather ruined a few rounds”.

“I will be training hard from now up until the start for SuperX and plan to improve on my 5^th position from last year”. “There is a lot more American talent coming out here this year and can’t wait to mix it with the worlds best”. “I’d like to thank everybody who supported me through this series. It has been an honor”.

Coastal KTM maintains points lead in States West 

The MxRad Motorex Coastal KTM Team had an up and down day  at Round 7 of the Mx Nationals which was held at Moree in the New South Wales States West over the weekend.

The team arrived early Saturday morning in the country town of Moree hoping to gain some ground, and that’s exactly what we intended to do. The Sunday turned out to be an excellent day with perfect weather conditions and an extremely well prepared track and that is when we knew we had a great day of racing ahead of us.

 Championship leader Josh Cachia is still focused on winning. After qualifying 1^st overall Josh looked to be in for another good day. After pulling the holeshot in moto 1 Josh looked to run away with the win, but soon dropped the bike in a corner crash, after remounting and restarting the bike Josh rode hard to finish a credible 4^th in the 1^st moto. After a 1^st turn pile up in the 2^nd moto Josh had to put his head down and work hard. Josh managed to make it back to 17^th position and salvage a few points for his title hunt. In the final 2 moto’s Josh got to work and managed to get the holeshot in both races and never looked back winning both races by a convincingly big margin.

“I definitely am a bit disappointed on the 2^nd moto today,” Cachia added.

“I have to hold my head up high and just keep staying consistent. Ross has gained a few points on me but if I just stay in front of him for the remainder of the series I should be fine. – If I stay consistent I can’t be beaten in the Championship”.

Josh still maintains an 11 point lead over Yamaha’s Ross Beaton and plans to extend the gap at the final rounds in Coolum next weekend.

Luke Bond had a good day. Luke struggled with starts but managed to work his way through the pack in every moto to gain a respectable finish in the short 6 lap races.

“Today was good. I had a lot of fun and the track was the best track I’ve ridden this year. It had some really good technical rhythm sections and good ruts were formed after the 1^st moto. I enjoyed the format but wish it was a little bit longer as I only just really started to get going, when the moto finished. I’m going to give it my all at the next and final rounds and hopefully come away with some solid results. Id like to thank the team for putting in the effort and support so far in the series. It’s been great”.

In the Pro Open class the boys came away with some up and down results.

Danny Anderson came away with a 20^th overall position for the day on his KTM450SXF.

Danny struggled with a few starts and was nearly last into the 1^st corner, but Digs put his head down and rode hard to make it through to mid pack every race.

“I had bad starts in most races but never gave up”.

“I came from around 30^th off the start and finished inside the top 20 each race”. “The track rutted up really good I really enjoyed riding the Moree track. The Club put on an excellent day. I got a flat tyre in the 2^nd moto which was a bit of a bummer. I had a lot of fun and can’t wait for Coolum.” Digs concluded

Danny currently sits in 19^th position in the Pro Open championship after improving 2 positions and hopes to move well into the top 15 in the final round.

Daniel McCoy didn’t start the weekend off how he would of liked after qualifying in 17^th position. Daniel hard to work hard during the races and that’s exactly what he did.

After a DNF in the 1^st moto after breaking his foot brake lever, Daniel went on to finish 6, 6, 6 in the final 3 motos to give him 8^th overall for the day.

Daniel commented on the day by saying “Today was a good day. I got some good results and got pretty good starts. I was disappointed braking off my lever in the 1^st race but I soldiered on to get well inside the top 10.

Daniel is currently sitting in 8^th position overall in the championship.

“The final round should be good but I can’t wait for Supercross to start. Im really looking forward to riding the new KTM 350SXF it should be unreal”. Daniel concluded

Beau Ralston has been on fire in the past few weeks after winning the final round of the NSW State Titles. Beau qualified an impressive 12^th position overall in the Pro Open class. After a shocking start in the 1^st moto Beau made it back to 14^th position, from there Beau’s day went downhill.

After a mechanical DNF in the 2^nd moto due to a collision with another bike, Beau came out firing in moto 3.

But after a few laps came unstuck with another DNF. Due to the damage of the bikes Beau decided to call it a day and return home.

“I was pretty upset about today. I’ve been training really hard and felt unreal coming into this round. I got some good laps in qualifying but mechanical issues ended my day pretty quick. I’d like to thank the team, they did everything they could to help me on the day. I’m looking forward to the final round and hope to gain some lost ground.

Beau is sitting in 10^th position and his goal is to get into 9^th by the end of the series.

Overall the boys had a good day. They will be training hard for the final rounds of the Mx Nationals which will be held In Coolum, QLD on the 24^th and 25^th of July this weekend.
